Hello everyone, I've been accepted into the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). Still unsure about a major though. Does anyone have insights on what majors are usually seen as more manageable or less strenuous at Alabama?
Congratulations on your acceptance into the University of Alabama, that's excellent news! It's pretty normal to be undecided about a major at this stage.
Always keep in mind that what’s considered easier or less demanding can be quite subjective and depend on your personal interests and strengths. That being said, some majors have a reputation for being somewhat less rigorous such as Communications, Sociology, or some areas within the School of Education like Secondary Education or Elementary Education. These programs can be more straightforward in terms of coursework, compared to more technical areas like Engineering or the Sciences.
However, it’s crucial that you select a major aligning with your interests, career goals, and academic talents. Rather than trying to seek out an 'easy' major, think about what subjects you enjoyed and performed well in high school. You might also want to consider what possible career paths or graduate programs you want to pursue post-undergrad. Remember, no major is inherently easier or harder – it mostly depends on how motivated and interested you are in the material and coursework.
Also, I highly recommend meeting with an academic advisor or career services at the University of Alabama. They have loads of experience and can offer personalized advice to help you in selecting a major. You can explore advising options here: https://aaa.ua.edu/resources/ua-advising-centers/.
Good luck on your journey, Roll Tide!
