Easy-entry schools in big universities?

Hey y'all, I understand that folks talk about some schools within large universities being easier to get into than others. Can anyone provide some insights on this? What are some broad examples across multiple universities?

Sure, it's true that some schools within large universities might have slightly higher acceptance rates compared to others. However, keep in mind that the differences aren't drastic, and you shouldn't rely on these small differences in making your college decision.

For instance, within Cornell University, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) have traditionally been considered as having slightly more generous acceptance rates compared to other schools like College of Engineering or the College of Arts and Sciences. However, this doesn't mean they're "easy" to get into. These schools at Cornell offer very specific programs, and they're looking for students who demonstrate strong interest and aptitude in those areas.

Similarly, some colleges might have separate schools for arts and sciences versus engineering, like University of Pennsylvania, with the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) and the College of Arts and Sciences and the noted Wharton School for business. Be aware though, Wharton has a significantly lower acceptance rate compared to Penn's overall acceptance rate due to it being one of the premier undergraduate business programs in the country.

Lastly, at the University of Michigan (UMich), the School of Information and Stamps School of Art & Design have slightly higher acceptance rates than the College of Engineering.

Remember, these are still highly prestigious programs, so admission won't be a breeze. Choose the school that fits your academic and career goals, rather than based on perceived 'ease of entry'.
