Setting up a Common App account — any tips?

So I'm gearing up to start my college apps and I’m about to set up my Common App account. I'm just wondering if there are any pitfalls I should avoid or things I should know prior to creating the account. How did you guys do it? Any tips for a junior just starting out?

Hey there! Setting up your Common App account is a big step, so kudos to you for starting the process. Here are a few tips to make sure everything goes smoothly. First, make sure you have a reliable email address that you check regularly; important notifications will come through there. Also, when you're registering, be sure to use your full legal name as it appears on official documents to avoid any confusion with your application. When it comes to filling out the application, you don't have to do it all in one go. Start by entering the simple stuff like your personal information and then you can gradually move on to the education and activities sections.

One thing to be conscious of is the activity section. You’ll want to prioritize your activities based on significance to you, not necessarily the amount of time you spend on them. And don't forget to proofread your entries or maybe even ask a teacher or family member to double-check them. Finally, familiarize yourself with the Common App's system requirements to avoid any technical issues. Once you're all set up, take a look at the different college requirements and deadlines so you can plan accordingly. Good luck!
