Texas Colleges with Less Stringent Admission Criteria

I'm a junior in a Texas high school and want to stay in-state for college. But my academics are a bit average and I'm not super active in extracurriculars. So, I'm curious, what are some of the easiest Texas colleges to get into?

There are plenty of great colleges in Texas that are known to have more accessible admission criteria for in-state students. Here are a few:

1. Texas Woman's University: Located in Denton, it has an acceptance rate of roughly 94%. Despite its name, it is coed and offers a range of majors.

2. Tarleton State University: Situated in Stephenville, Tarleton State University has an acceptance rate of around 60%, providing programs in education, agricultural and environmental sciences, business, health sciences, and more.

3. Midwestern State University: With an acceptance rate of about 80%, this university in Wichita Falls provides broad access to undergraduate and graduate programs in the liberal arts, health sciences, and sciences.

4. University of Houston - Downtown: Known to hold an acceptance rate of 70%, this college offers programs in business, social work, computer information systems, and more.

5. Texas A&M University - Kingsville: Here, the acceptance rate is around 90% and it focuses on programs in engineering, agriculture and natural resources, and business administration.

Remember, while these universities might be less competitive in terms of grades and test scores, they will still consider your whole application, including your essays and recommendation letters. It's also important to find a school that aligns well with your interests and aspirations. Best of luck with your applications!
