Looking for Easy Class Recommendations at Swarthmore College

Hello everyone! I'm seriously considering Swarthmore College for my undergraduate studies. I'd appreciate it if any current or past students could shed some light on what are some of the 'easiest' classes to take at Swarthmore. Just looking for a GPA booster or something to balance out some of the tougher classes!

Swarthmore is known for its rigorous academic environment, but there are indeed certain classes that students have found to be less intensive and potentially beneficial for balancing your schedule. Thankfully, Swarthmore offers a wide range of options across a variety of subjects, so you have plenty of flexibility.

Here are some general recommendations (but, of course, please keep in mind that difficulty can be subjective and can depend on your own strengths and interests):

1. Theater and Performance (THEA 001) - This course gives an introduction to the history and practice of theatre. The workload is reasonable, and the assignments are engaging without being too taxing.

2. Photography (ARTT 004) - If you have even a slight inclination towards photography, consider this course. Not only does it provide a creative outlet, but beginners are also welcome and the grading is generally considered quite generous.

3. Pedagogy and Power (EDUC 014) - This class talks about the education system in a sociological and political context, with engaging discussions and relatively light reading.

4. Astronomy (ASTR 001) - You don't need an extensive background in science to take this class. It's more of a general education course with interesting material and less intensive workload.

5. Music and Dance Cultures of the World (MUSI 005A) - Not only does this class involve learning about other cultures, but it also involves practical elements, making it engaging and interactive.

Remember, what's considered "easy" can vary greatly depending on individual student strengths and interests, so make sure these classes not only provide a break from rigor, but also genuinely interest you!
