Transferring to Cornell

Hi all. I'm currently a sophomore at my local community college and I’m interested in transferring to an Ivy League university. I heard that some colleges within Cornell might be easier to transfer into than others. Could anyone shed some light on that? Which colleges within Cornell are often seen as the 'easiest' to transfer into?

While it’s true that different colleges within Cornell University may have different transfer acceptance rates, remember that 'easiest' can be quite subjective and will greatly depend on your unique profile, including your academic performance, relevance of coursework, extracurricular activities, and how well your interests align with the specific college or program you're applying to.

Cornell’s varied colleges each have their own transfer policies, but the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Human Ecology traditionally have higher transfer acceptance rates. These colleges have specific criteria for applicants, so ensure you research and meet these requirements. For example, CALS expects students to have a strong background in biology, chemistry, and math while Human Ecology expects coursework relevant to your intended major.

It should be noted that the transfer acceptance rate does not necessarily reflect the academic rigor or quality of the program, but rather the space available and the number of applicants. Keep in mind that wherever you apply, be genuine in showcasing your interests and how they align with Cornell's offerings.

Lastly, don’t forget to get a sense of what each college values academically and socially through their curriculum, post-grad outcomes, and community values. This will help make your application stronger. Good luck!
