What's the Easiest History Course in College?

Okay, so I'm entering college soon. I'm supposed to take a history course, but it's not my strongest subject. Any advice on which courses are easier? Any recommendations on strategies for handling the course well would be great too!

Respondent 1: The "easiness" of a history class can vary from person to person as it often depends on your personal interests and your professor's teaching style. However, many students find that introductory level or general classes can be more manageable, such as courses that cover a broad historical period or topic like "World History," "American History," or "European History," as they often provide an overview rather than diving deeply into specific topics.

In terms of strategies, it might help to review the syllabus carefully at the start of the semester. This will give you a clear idea of what's demanded from the course and help you to manage your time effectively. Regularly review your class notes and ensure you understand the different events and importance of the figures being discussed.

Respondent 2: It's generally best to choose a course that aligns with your interests, even within history. For instance, if you're interested in art or music, perhaps a course in 'Art History' or 'History of Music' would be easier for you to engage with. Engaging material can often lighten the course workload because you genuinely enjoy delving deeper into it.

As for strategies, participating actively in class discussions can greatly aid in understanding the material, as well as making studying less tiresome. Furthermore, keeping up with the assigned readings and coursework consistently, rather than cramming it all toward the end, can make managing the course material a lot easier.

Respondent 3: I would suggest considering courses such as 'Survey of Modern American History,' or 'Introduction to the Ancient World,' as these courses are often designed to introduce you to major historical themes and events without diving into too much complexity.

For managing history classes, good note-taking habits can be a game changer. Laying out your notes with headings, subheadings, and bullet points can really help when it comes time to study. Understanding how events are interconnected, instead of just memorizing dates and names, will help you grasp the bigger picture and could make exams and essays easier. Lastly, don't hesitate to ask for help from your professor or join study groups if you're struggling. Good luck!
