Taking the PSAT/NMSQT more than once?

Quick question: I know we can take the SAT multiple times but what about the PSAT/NMSQT? Can we actually take it twice, or is it a one-shot deal? Especially considering how it's linked to National Merit stuff.

Absolutely, you can take the PSAT/NMSQT more than once. Students often take it for the first time in 10th grade as a practice run and then again in 11th grade when it counts for National Merit Scholarship consideration. Just remember, your score from the 11th-grade PSAT/NMSQT is the only one that will be used for National Merit qualifications—unfortunately, unlike the SAT, you won't have the option to take the test "for real" more than once.

That being said, it's wise to take the test seriously both times, as the practice you get in 10th grade can significantly improve your performance in 11th grade, even though the 10th grade score isn't actually used for anything. Make sure you're familiar with the test format and question types, and take advantage of any preparatory resources your school offers or seek out practice materials to bolster your skills. Best of luck with your test preparation!
