The hardest colleges to get into in Georgia?

Hey folks, I'm trying to shortlist colleges for applications. Can anybody tell me which colleges are notoriously hard to get into in Georgia? Would love details on average GPA, ECs, and other requirements if possible. Thanks a bunch!

There are several universities in Georgia with highly competitive admissions. Here are a few noteworthy ones:

1. Emory University: Known for its vigorous academics, Emory is often considered the hardest school to get into in Georgia. The average admitted student's high school GPA is around 3.8 (unweighted), reflecting a high level of academic achievement. Admitted students typically have numerous extracurriculars, with a focus on quality rather than quantity. AP or IB classes, and an SAT score in the range of 1430-1550 or ACT score in the range of 32-34, can be considered competitive.

2. Georgia Tech: A premier institution for science and engineering, Georgia Tech also has stringent admission requirements. Admitted students typically have an average unweighted GPA of 3.7. For standardized tests, admitted students often have an SAT score between 1370-1550 or an ACT score between 31-35. As with Emory, involvement in extracurriculars, especially those related to your intended major, is highly beneficial.

3. The University of Georgia (UGA): This in-state public school also has fairly competitive admissions. The average GPA for admitted students is around 4.19 (weighted, UGA uses a unique GPA calculation) with an SAT score between 1270-1470 or an ACT score between 31-34 typically considered competitive. Demonstrating involvement in extracurricular activities and leadership also plays an important role in their admissions considerations.

Keep in mind that these are averages – being above or below these figures does not guarantee admission or rejection. The application review is a holistic process that takes into consideration not just your academics and extracurricular involvement, but other factors like your essays, letters of recommendation, and special talents or achievements. Good luck with your applications!
