What's the Hardest Subject to Study in College?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a junior in high school and I was contemplating what I'd want to major in. Out of curiosity, which subjects are said to be the toughest in college and why? Is it the amount of studying, the complexity, the work load, what is it?

While the difficulty of a college course can be subjective and largely depends on an individual's strengths and interests, there are a few fields of study that traditionally get a reputation for being tough. Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics are often considered challenging due to the critical thinking, practical problem-solving, and math skills they require. Life sciences such as Medicine and Biochemistry are also seen as difficult due to the sheer volume of information to absorb and apply.

Other fields that are often considered difficult are Computer Science because of the need to understand complex algorithms and coding, and Law, for its heavy emphasis on reading, writing, and logical analysis. Advanced Liberal Arts fields, like Philosophy and Literature, can also be considered challenging due to the high levels of critical interpretation and strong analytical writing skills they demand.

What makes these subjects "difficult" often includes some combination of workload (how much reading, studying, or homework is required), conceptual complexity (the abstractness or sophistication of the ideas you're asked to understand), and the academic rigor of assessments (how demanding the essays and exams are).

All that said, your motivation, interest, and previous background in a subject can make a significant impact on how difficult you find it. Therefore, pick a major that aligns with your personal strengths and passion. After all, subjects that may seem daunting to others may feel completely at home to you.
