Difficulty Ranking of Indian Colleges

Are any of you guys familiar with the Indian higher ed system? I heard it's pretty rigorous and was wondering which college is considered particularly challenging there.

The higher education system in India is indeed diverse and quite rigorous, with a variety of prestigious, highly sought-after institutions.

One of the most renowned institutions is the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). There are 23 IITs in India, all of which are considered top-notch, particularly for engineering and technology studies. Students have to crack the extremely competitive Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to gain admission into these institutions. The IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Madras frequently top the rankings.

Apart from the IITs, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are also highly regarded, especially for business and management programs. Just like IITs, getting into IIMs involve a competitive examination process, the Common Admission Test (CAT). IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta are often recognized as the top schools in this category.

Another group of institutions known for their rigor are the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), which also excel in the field of engineering and technology. NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, and NIT Warangal are frequently top-ranked within this group.

In the realm of sciences, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore stands out, offering advanced scientific and technological research and education.
