How are ranks structured in Space Force?

I was reading about this new 'Space Force' and I am curious about how it is organized. How do they structure the ranks in this new military branch? Is it similar to how ranks are handled in other branches like the Army or Navy? I would appreciate any insight on this.

Like other branches of the military, the United States Space Force (USSF) has a rank structure that classifies its members. These ranks are based on grade, authority, and responsibility of the personnel. The Space Force rank structure is actually similar to that of the U.S. Air Force since it evolved from the Air Force Space Command.

The officers' ranks, from lowest to highest, start with Second Lieutenant (O-1), then proceed to First Lieutenant (O-2), Captain (O-3), Major (O-4), Lieutenant Colonel (O-5), Colonel (O-6), Brigadier General (O-7), Major General (O-8), Lieutenant General (O-9), and General (O-10). The highest rank, Chief of Space Operations, is currently held by a General.

Enlisted members, on the other hand, have ranks that start from Spaceman Basic (E-1), then Spaceman (E-2), and then progress to Specialist 1, 2, 3, and 4 (E-3-E6). The next rank levels include Sergeant (E-7), Technical Sergeant (E-8), Master Sergeant (E-9), and finally Chief Master Sergeant (E-9) at the top of enlisted ranks. The top enlisted member is the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Space Force, who is a Chief Master Sergeant.

These ranks are not just about hierarchy but also depict the level of responsibility, leadership roles, and pay scale for each member within the Space Force. Understanding the ranking structure helps one understand the chain of command within the Space Force.
