Is a foreign language required for college admissions?

Hey guys, just wondering if colleges still require foreign language credits for admission? I've taken Spanish for a couple of years but not sure if I should continue for my junior and senior year. How much do admissions committees care about this?

Hey there! It's great that you're being proactive about your college prep. Most colleges, especially liberal arts institutions and more competitive universities, do like to see a minimum of two years of a foreign language as part of your high school curriculum. However, many of them prefer three or more years as it demonstrates a commitment to and proficiency in the subject. It's also beneficial for your overall language development and cultural literacy. If you're aiming for top-tier schools, I would definitely suggest sticking with Spanish for your junior and senior years. Not only does it strengthen your application, but advanced classes can also show that you're willing to challenge yourself academically. That being said, if you have a particularly rigorous schedule or other commitments that align more closely with your intended major or career path, that can also be taken into consideration. It's all about balance and showing a strong, well-rounded high school experience. Best of luck with your decision!
