Looking for colleges in and around Boston

Hi, everyone. I'm drawn to Boston for its rich history and cultural scene. Can anybody suggest good colleges in or around Boston? Bonus if they have strong programs in environmental studies. Thanks, guys!

Sure, Boston is a great city with a dense concentration of colleges and universities. Here are a few that you might want to consider:

1. Harvard University: Located in Cambridge, just outside of Boston, Harvard is one of the most renowned universities in the world. Its Environmental Science and Public Policy concentration is interdisciplinary and allows students to explore environmental issues from a variety of perspectives.

2. Boston University: This urban-based campus has strong programs across many disciplines. The Department of Earth & Environment at BU offers both BA and BS degrees in Environmental Analysis & Policy, and Earth & Environmental Science.

3. Tufts University: About 5 miles outside of Boston in Medford/Somerville, Tufts has a strong emphasis on globalism and active citizenship. Its Environmental Studies Program is flexible and encourages students to explore a wide range of environmental topics.

4. MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology): Also in Cambridge, MIT might bring to mind tech and engineering, but they also have a robust Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences that might be of interest.

5. Northeastern University: Northeastern, sited in Boston itself, offers Environmental Science and Environmental Studies majors, both featuring experiential learning and co-op opportunities.

6. Boston College: Just west in Chestnut Hill, BC offers an Environmental Studies Major and Environmental Geoscience Major through their Earth and Environmental Sciences department.

These are some of the larger universities in the area. There are also excellent smaller schools like Wellesley College, known for its picturesque campus and rigorous academics, and Brandeis University, with its robust program in Environmental Studies and strong community.

When considering schools, be sure to take into account size, campus culture, financial aid offerings, etc, in addition to academic programs. This should give you a good place to start! Good luck with your college search.
