Application Process for Eastern University

So, I'm starting on my college applications and Eastern University has caught my eye. Just wondering, what's the application process like? Any quirks or nuances that would be good to know ahead of time? Would love some feedback if anyone's been through the process.

The application process for Eastern University is pretty standard and straightforward. They accept online applications through either the Common Application or their own Eastern University Application. So, you can choose which application platform you prefer to use. Neither platform has a preference so it really is up to you.

In terms of deadlines, Eastern operates on a rolling admissions basis, which means that you can submit your application any time throughout the year. However, keep in mind that the earlier you apply, the sooner you'll receive a decision. Applying early also increases your chances of securing financial aid and scholarships, as some of these are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis.

As part of the application, you'll need to submit your high school transcripts and an application essay. They don't have any specific essay prompts, but typically a good college application essay should take the opportunity to share something meaningful about yourself that isn't covered elsewhere in your application. You could tie it to a personal story that indicates some quality that you possess, revealing your passion, growth, and perseverance which are core values at Eastern.

Official SAT or ACT scores are optional at Eastern. They have adopted a Test-Optional policy after research has indicated that high school GPA is a stronger predictor of collegiate success. So if you have a strong GPA, and you feel your standardized test scores don't reflect your academic capabilities, you can opt to not submit them. This choice should not hurt you in the admissions process.

Eastern University also requires two letters of recommendation. One of these should come from a counselor or teacher that can speak to your ability to succeed in a rigorous academic environment. The other can be a personal reference and come from someone who can speak to your character and personal development.

Remember to carefully review all the components of your application and make sure everything is complete before submitting. Keep an eye on the email that you provided to Eastern as that's how they will communicate updates regarding your application status.

Lastly, while this might seem like a lot to take in, don't stress too much. The admissions team at Eastern is there to help you if you have any questions or need assistance with the application process. Best of luck to you!
