I'm highly interested in applying to Fordham University located in New York. I was wondering if any current or former student could tell me more about what life there is like? How's the campus, the academic rigor, and the overall environment of the place?

Fordham is definitely noteworthy for its vibrant campus life and strong academic programs. There are actually two campuses - Rose Hill, located in the Bronx, and Lincoln Center, located in Manhattan. Rose Hill has more of a traditional campus feel with green spaces and Gothic architecture, while Lincoln Center is more urban, so you get to choose which environment you'd prefer.

Academic rigor at Fordham University is pretty high. Small class sizes mean professors can engage in a more personal style of teaching and give plenty of attention to each student. Popular majors include Business, Communications, and Psychology. One other thing - Fordham is a Jesuit university, which means it emphasizes education of the entire person, and service and social justice are important to the school's mission.

The student community is diverse and the school does a great job fostering a sense of community. Living in New York is definitely a plus - you get great opportunities for internships, cultural experiences, and job networking. The Career Services team is outstanding and helps with internships and job placements.

If you're into sports, there's a lot of school spirit and the basketball games are a hit among students. The university also has over 150 clubs, so you’re likely to find a few that match your interests.

One thing that students have mentioned is Fordham’s core curriculum. Irrespective of your major, there are certain subjects you need to study to get a well-rounded education, including philosophy, theology, history, and mathematics. While some students find this to be an advantage - they feel it broadens their learning experience - others find it burdensome.

I hope this gives you a little taste of life at Fordham! It combines the energy of city life with a close-knit campus community and solid academics.
