Military Branches and Tanks?

I'm seriously considering a military route after highschool and have this serious fascination for tanks. So I was wondering, which military branches actually deploy tanks?

In the United States, the primary military branch that deploys tanks is the United States Army. The Army has a strong focus on land operations and uses tanks extensively in its operations. The Army's armored division operates various types of tanks including the M1 Abrams, which is the main battle tank employed by the U.S. military.

The U.S. Marine Corps also used to deploy tanks as part of their operations. However, in 2020, the Marine Commandant announced that they would be divesting their tank battalions as part of their force design initiatives to make the Corps a more light and mobile force, especially in island-hopping scenarios in the Pacific. Consequently, as of now, the Marine Corps no longer operates tanks.

The other branches, such as the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, do not operate tanks as they are primarily focused on naval operations, air and space operations, and homeland security and maritime law enforcement respectively. The Space Force, being the newest branch, is concerned with space operations and also does not utilize tanks.

Therefore, if you're passionate about tanks, the Army would be your best bet! Getting into an Armor Officer career may allow you to command a tank unit one day. You can also consider roles such as a M1 Armor Crewman, where you would directly operate the tanks. It's wonderful that you're considering serving your country, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
