What's Bridge Water State University Like?

I've been considering Bridge Water State University as one of my options, but it's hard to get a real feel for it online. Could anyone give me some insight into what life is like on campus? Academics, atmosphere, dorms, and all the other nitty-gritty details are appreciated.

Sure, I'd love to give insight about Bridgewater State University!

Academically, Bridgewater State has more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs, so there's a wide variety of options to choose from. The classroom size is generally small, providing more opportunities for individualized attention and interaction with professors. Popular majors include Business, Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Health Professions which are all known to be solid programs.

As for the campus, it's a mix of historical and contemporary architecture. It may look small but it's filled with resources. There's the Moakley center which houses modern computer and science labs, the Maxwell Library with an array of study spaces and resources, and the extensive athletic facilities.

Atmosphere-wise, it maintains a friendly, warm, and inclusive ambiance. The student body is diverse and there are more than 90 clubs and organizations. There's always something happening on campus, whether it's an Eagles sporting event (mascot name), club activity, or an event hosted by the Office of Student Involvement.

The dorms range from traditional high-rise style to apartment-style, with options for freshmen through seniors. Common amenities include study lounges, kitchens, and laundry facilities in each hall.

In terms of location, it's in the small town of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, which creates a quiet, peaceful environment predominantly focused on academic success. Still, the train station is right behind the campus, which provides easy access to the livelier atmospheres of Boston and Providence, for those weekends when you might want a change of pace.

The one downside that students often mention is the dining options could be improved. The campus food is not universally loved, with some students saying it's just okay.

Overall, Bridgewater State University seems to strike a good balance between a small, nurturing environment and a range of opportunities typically found at larger universities. Of course, every student experience is unique! The best way to know for sure if Bridgewater is a good fit for you is to take a tour or speak with current students if you have the opportunity.
