Are there differences between the Loyola Universities?

Hey guys, I have a question and need some insights. Loyola University in California and the one in Chicago - are there any major differences? Academia, environment, opportunities, anything at all?

Loyola University Chicago and Loyola Marymount University in California have different strengths and environments, even though they are both Jesuit institutions.

Loyola University Chicago (LUC) is located in a major urban setting on the shores of Lake Michigan and is well-known for its programs in health sciences (such as nursing, pre-med, and the Stritch School of Medicine). It also has a strong focus on social justice, which can be seen in many programs throughout the university. Being in a city like Chicago offers a lot of opportunities for internships, cultural exploration, as well as a rich and diverse social life.

On the other hand, Loyola Marymount University (LMU) is in Los Angeles, which presents a whole different set of opportunities. LMU has well recognized programs in film and television production due to its proximity to Hollywood, as well as strong programs in business and entrepreneurship. LMU also emphasizes social justice, similar to LUC, but the school's location gives a different vibe - it's somewhat of a cross between a traditional campus and an urban school.

In terms of size, there is a difference too. LUC has a larger student body, around 12,400 undergraduate students, while LMU has roughly 7,330 undergraduate students. This difference in size can impact class size, student activities, and campus culture.

The best way to decide between them is to consider your prospective major, preferred class size, and the setting you'll be most comfortable in. Visiting the campuses, if possible, can give you an idea of the atmosphere, students, faculty, and overall environment. Also, consider reaching out to current students or alumni for their perspectives.
