Loyola Marymount University Reviews

So, I'm seriously considering Loyola Marymount University, the campus seems lovely and it has the majors I'm interested in. However, I'd appreciate it if current students/alumni could share their reviews and experiences at LMU. Anything from academics to social life would be very helpful.

Sure, I'd be more than happy to provide some insights from what I've heard from students at Loyola Marymount University.

Academically speaking, LMU has a diverse range of programs with some strong departments including Film and Television Production, Animation, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship among others. The classes tend to be small, promoting close interaction between professors and students. Instructors are often reported to be accessible and engaged in their students' academic growth, providing a strong student-faculty relationship.

Beyond academics, LMU's location in Los Angeles provides ample opportunities for internships and networking within an array of industries. Take advantage of these, as they are excellent ways to gain practical experience and connections in your desired field.

As far as campus life is concerned, Loyola Marymount is known for its vibrant and inclusive community. There is a strong focus on service and social justice, aligning with the university's Jesuit roots. This ethos shapes many aspects of student life, from the courses that are offered to the units of service students are expected to complete before graduation, and even to the types of extracurricular clubs and events that are available.

The campus itself is picturesque and well-maintained, boasting views of the Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles. With the sunny California weather, outdoor activities are a favorite among students at LMU.

One thing to note is that while there is a good amount of on-campus housing available, some students find that it is limited, which may require looking into off-campus housing options in the later years.

In terms of social life, there are numerous clubs and organizations to join, but Greek life and athletics play less of a role compared with some other universities. Most students feel that LMU has a vibrant 'work hard, play hard' culture.

Overall, students typically say they appreciate the well-rounded education and close-knit community at LMU. Keep in mind, of course, that everyone's individual experience can vary somewhat depending on their personal circumstances, interests, and approach to university life.
