Colleges in Coral Gables

Miami's fancy suburb, Coral Gables, has always been on my radar. Seems like a great place to spend four years of college. Can anyone share insight on the colleges present in Coral Gables?

Coral Gables, situated in Miami-Dade County, Florida, indeed offers a vibrant college scene. This picturesque city is home to the University of Miami, a leading research institution.

The University of Miami is a private university known for its robust programs across various disciplines. It's renowned for its business school, the Miami Herbert Business School, which offers highly ranked programs in entrepreneurship and accounting. Its School of Communication, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, and Frost School of Music are also very well-regarded.

The University's beautiful Coral Gables campus provides a great blend of the academic and the recreational, with state-of-the-art facilities and a rich extracurricular life — everything from athletics to the arts. UM's size, with around 10,000 undergraduate students, provides an intimate learning environment without sacrificing the resources of a larger institution.

Additionally, the area's subtropical climate, architectural style known as the Mediterranean Revival, and active downtown make Coral Gables an attractive location. It's also worth noting that with downtown Miami and Miami Beach just a short drive away, students here can benefit from internships, cultural experiences, and recreational activities that the broader Miami area offers.

However, keep in mind that like any college decision, fit is critical. You might want to investigate not just academic programs but also campus culture, student supplements, and financial aid opportunities. Visiting campuses, if feasible, and speaking with current students or alumni can provide a valuable perspective.
