Considering Universidad de Long Beach, Opinions?

I've recently been interested in the Universidad de Long Beach in California, a little over half-way through my Junior year. What's the overall student experience there? Could anyone share about academics, campus life, sports, or any notable programs?

Sure, I'd be happy to share some information about CSU Long Beach (also commonly known as Long Beach State)! It's a school that's appreciated for its diversity and inclusiveness, with a body of nearly 38,000 students and a campus that spans close to 330 acres. The student-to-faculty ratio is 23:1, so depending on your preferences, this could be seen as a pro or con.

When it comes to academics, there are wide ranges of programs available across various colleges of the university. Some of the highly-regarded ones include Business, Nursing, and Engineering. The faculty is often recognized for their dedication to student success and hands-on learning.

CSU Long Beach also has a vibrant campus life. The school hosts numerous cultural events and activities that not only engage students but also represent the diverse student body. There are over 300 student organizations to join, catering to a variety of interests.

Sporting events, particularly their basketball and baseball games, often draw a lot of support from the student body. The school is part of the NCAA Division I Big West Conference, so you can expect a high level of competition and school spirit at these events.

Something notable about CSU Long Beach is its Shark Lab which offers students the opportunity to research the behavioral and physiological ecology of sharks – definitely unique! The university was also known for its program that pairs students with industry mentors through the Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership.

It's worth noting also that CSU Long Beach is selective with an acceptance rate of about 31%. If this school sparks your interest, it would be beneficial to visit the campus (virtually or in-person), connect with current students or faculty, and further research the programs that align with your academic goals.
