Thoughts on University of Colorado Boulder?

Hey guys, I've been considering University of Colorado Boulder but I want some honest opinions. If you attend/attended, how is it? Reviews on the internet seem mixed, so I really appreciate any thoughts you could share!

As a higher education professional, I'd like to provide some insight into the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder). It's known for being one of the top public universities in the West, and its setting in Boulder offers a lovely campus with fantastic views and outdoor activities.

CU Boulder has strong programs in various areas, particularly those related to science, engineering, and the environment, which is no surprise given Boulder's status as a hub for tech startups and environmental research. Businesses and labs in the area often provide ample internship and research opportunities for students. The Leeds School of Business also garners good reviews and is AACSB-accredited.

On the other hand, it's a large university with over 30,000 students, which means classes can be large, and the student-to-faculty ratio is around 18:1. That being said, opportunities for smaller class sizes and more personalized attention increase as you progress in your major.

Socially, CU Boulder has a reputation for being an active campus. There's a vibrant Greek life, many club sports, and over 400 student organizations. The city of Boulder is highly rated as a college town and offers a variety of restaurants, shops, and events.

However, every college has its downsides. Some students report that while there's a lot of school spirit around sports, the football team has struggled in recent years. Also, being in a town versus a larger city might not appeal to everyone, and Boulder's cost of living is higher compared to some other college towns.

Remember to consider your personal preferences and academic/career goals when making your decision. Having a clear picture of what you want in an educational setting can help guide your decision-making process.
