Significance of a High School Transcript?

Alright, so I'm a bit confused about the high school transcript. I understand that it's a record of my academic achievements, but what all exactly does it include? And how significant is it in the college admissions process?

It includes a record of every class you've taken, along with the grade you received in each class. In addition to the core subjects like English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, your transcript will also list your elective courses, such as art, music, or vocational classes.
