Top Art Colleges in Virginia?

Hi guys, I'm starting to look at colleges and I'm particularly interested in those that offer a strong Art program. I've been living in Virginia my whole life, so I thought I'd start my search here. Can anyone recommend the best art colleges in Virginia and tell me a bit about the art program there?

Virginia is home to a number of highly regarded art schools, each offering its unique strengths.

1. Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU): Its School of the Arts (VCUarts) is one of the nation's leading art schools and it excels in both fine arts and design. VCUarts offers 18 undergraduate and 6 post-baccalaureate majors across a range of practices including Painting, Design, Photography, Sculpture, and Theatre. It's particularly renowned for its Sculpture program.

2. The University of Virginia (UVA): UVA's Studio Art program, part of the McIntire Department of Art, offers concentrations in Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, and New Media. What's unique about UVA's program is that it's interdisciplinary and encourages students to explore a variety of media as well as intellectual ideas.

3. George Mason University: Its School of Art offers concentrations in Painting, BFA Sculpture, Graphic Design, Printmaking among others. George Mason's School of Art also emphasizes cultural and social issues in its curriculum.

4. James Madison University: The School of Art, Design, and Art History at JMU offers a comprehensive Art program with a wide range of concentrations including Painting, Printmaking, and Graphic Design. This program encourages a combination of practical skills with innovative thinking.

Each of these colleges offers comprehensive art programs with a range of concentrations, so I would suggest looking into the specifics of each program and visiting each campus if possible, to see which one aligns best with your specific interests and goals.
