Getting to know Iowa's Cornell College

Hello everyone, I just discovered Iowa's Cornell College and it has piqued my interest! Are there any current or former students that could share their experience? Things like class size, faculty involvement, campus scene, would be helpful.

Located in the small town of Mount Vernon, Cornell College follows a distinctive "One Course At A Time" curriculum. This means students take one class for a block of 3.5 weeks, focusing on it entirely, before moving on to the next. Many students say that this approach allows them to dive deeply into subjects and forms strong connections with fellow classmates and professors during the block.

In terms of faculty involvement, Cornell College is known to have professors who are very dedicated and accessible. Because of the class format and small student-to-faculty ratio (approximately 12:1), professors have the opportunity to really get to know their students and provide individualized attention.

As for the campus and social scene, Cornell College's campus is quite scenic with an array of historic buildings, and it is quite compact, which allows students to walk pretty much everywhere. The school is part of the NCAA Division III and boasts over 15 sports teams, known as the Rams, so there's a level of school spirit and camaraderie among students.
