How do colleges view online health classes for high school credit?

Hi friends, I'm considering taking health class online to free up my schedule for other electives at school. Does anyone know if colleges care whether health credits come from an online course vs. in-person? Thanks!

Hi there! It's great that you're thinking ahead about how your course choices might be viewed by colleges. Generally speaking, colleges are becoming more flexible about online courses, especially for classes like health that aren't part of the core academic subjects (English, math, science, social studies, and foreign languages).

They understand that students are looking for ways to optimize their schedules and might need to take some courses online. The most important thing is that you're meeting your high school graduation requirements and that the online course is from an accredited program. If you have room on your college applications, you could briefly explain why you chose to take health online — for instance, to make room for an advanced science or art class that supports your main academic interests. However, this usually isn't necessary unless the college specifically asks for it. Just be sure you're also taking challenging courses in your core subjects to show colleges you're prepared for college-level work.

Best of luck with your health class and the rest of your high school journey!
