Carleton College Major Selection Process?

Hey folks, I was wondering about the process of selecting a major at Carleton College. What kind of options are available there? And when do students typically declare their major?

Carleton College offers a pretty wide range of academic majors from a variety of disciplines. You can choose from more traditional fields like biology, psychology, or economics to unique ones like cinema and media studies or mathematical biology, among others.

Students at Carleton do not declare a major when they enter as freshmen, providing them enough flexibility to explore different fields during their first and second years. Students typically declare their major during the spring term of their sophomore year. This allows Carleton students to be exposed to a broad spectrum of knowledge areas, engaging in liberal arts education to its fullest extent before diving deep into their chosen field.

However, it's totally fine and quite common for students to change their declared major even after the initial declaration.
