Feedback on Carlow University, Pittsburgh PA?

I’m keenly interested in Carlow University in Pittsburgh. It seems to have a strong humanities program. If anyone here has insider info or personal experiences to share about the university, especially regarding student life, it would be greatly appreciated!

Carlow University is an excellent choice, especially for students interested in the humanities. The university emphasizes experiential learning, which can be essential in subjects such as English, history, and philosophy.

Though I don't have personal experiences to share, I've come across various admissions data and anecdotes from distributing surveys to students that indicate a robust student life at Carlow.

Small class sizes are one of the main highlights. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1, students tend to report personalized attention from professors and the opportunity for fruitful academic discussions, which can improve your experience in humanities courses.

The student life appears to be active and diverse. Carlow University's location in Pittsburgh offers students many cultural outings and experiences in addition to the on-campus activities. Pittsburgh is a vibrant city that's home to other larger universities, museums, art galleries, and music venues, providing numerous events and festivals that you can attend.

The university has more than 40 student clubs and organizations, engaging students in a wide variety of interests from academics to arts to activism. This active student body can provide a substantial sense of community and plenty of opportunities to get involved.

However, consider that Carlow is a Catholic university, and while students of all faiths (or no faith) are welcomed and respected, the Catholic tradition does inform the school's values and parts of its curriculum. If you align with these values or are open to that perspective in your education, it could be a benefit.

Finally, just a minor note, even though the emphasis seems to be on their nursing and health science programs, the humanities programs are well-regarded.

Remember, the best way to determine if a school is truly a good fit is by directly interacting with the university. You could try reaching out to current students or alumni or even faculty in the humanities department to get a deeper feel for the university. If possible, visiting the campus in person or virtually would also be useful.
