What experiences have you had with NYU?

Anyone out there go to NYU or know someone who does? I'm considering applying there but I'd definitely like to hear some firsthand accounts about student life, academics and overall experiences if possible.

From what I've heard, NYU is an exceptional school with abundant opportunities, both in terms of academics and extracurricular activities. It's location in NYC inherently offers myriad experiences throughout the city, from interning in Wall Street firms to attending Broadway shows. The campus culture is often described as non-traditional. There's no enclosed, traditional central campus so students walk right from their dorms into the heart of the city. This can be a positive or a negative, depending on what you are looking for in a college experience.

Academically, NYU is renowned for many majors including Film, Performing Arts, Business, and more. Many students highlight the active learning experience which includes lots of discussion, group work, and projects that often intersect with real-world situations. Professors are praised for being professionals in their field, providing students with practical insights and valuable network connections.

In terms of student life, some students say there’s not a huge sense of community due to the absence of traditional campus. However, there are over 300 student clubs at NYU, so there are plenty of ways to get involved and interact with fellow students who share similar interests.

However, it's important to think about what you expect from your college experience. NYU offers an urban, independent college lifestyle, which can be transformative for some students, but might not be the right fit for everyone. Do research, speak with current students or alumni, and if possible, visit the campus to get a real sense of the environment.
