Visiting UPenn?

I'm interested in UPenn and want to make a campus visit. Any advice on what to see while I'm there and how to make the most of my visit?

A visit to UPenn is a great idea as it offers the chance to really get a feel for campus life. There are a few places and things I recommend focusing on to get the most out of your visit.

Firstly, check out the academic buildings related to your potential major. This includes the Wharton School, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, or the School of Nursing, among others. It's beneficial to get a sense of your learning environment.

Don't miss the Van Pelt Library as well. It is the heart of intellectual life at UPenn and it's beneficial to see that literate atmosphere.

Secondly, be sure to explore the College Green, the social heart of the university adorned by the statue of Benjamin Franklin. This area is often bustling with activity, and you might even spot some student groups or clubs holding activities.

Ask to see the on-campus housing options. Try to see both freshman and upperclassman housing if possible. UPenn has a house system, so you may want to ask about the different houses and their associated communities and traditions.

Attend a sports event if available. Penn’s Division I teams are a source of school pride and you may get the chance to witness the Quaker spirit firsthand.

Arrange to have a meal or a snack at one of the dining halls or local eateries. This gives you an opportunity to sample the campus food and maybe even chat with current students.

If you can, a campus tour with a current student can be a wealth of information. They can share their personal experiences and provide insights that you might not get from a brochure or website. Be sure to have a list of questions prepared that you may have about the student experience.

Finally, take some time to explore the city of Philadelphia itself. The city and university are closely intertwined, so having an understanding of the city's culture and amenities can give you a fuller sense of what attending UPenn might be like.
