GPA Scale Reporting on Common App Dilemma

Ok, so my high school has this weird weighted GPA system and I'm trying to figure out how to report it on the Common App. Does anyone know if I should convert it to a 4.0 scale or just report it as my school does? Would colleges re-calculate it anyway?

Hello there! Navigating the GPA reporting can be tricky with different high school scales! On the Common App, you should report your GPA exactly as your school presents it on your transcript. Make sure that you also correctly indicate the scale your school uses, along with whether it's weighted or unweighted. Colleges are used to seeing a variety of GPA scales, and they will usually recalculate or evaluate your GPA within the context of your school's profile. This profile, which your school counsellor sends to colleges, includes information about the school's curriculum and grading scales, allowing admissions officers to fairly assess your performance. So, report your GPA as is and make sure the rest of your application is polished and complete. Rest assured that admissions officers are skilled at interpreting GPAs from different schools and will understand the context of your grades. Keep up the good work with your application and don't hesitate to reach out to your school counselor for any guidance!
