Hey guys, I'm considering applying to Dixie State University. Anyone been on their campus before? What's the general atmosphere like? Any feedback on the dorms, facilities, and the overall environment would be great!
Dixie State University, located in St. George, Utah, is known for its welcoming atmosphere. The campus is relatively compact, which makes it easy to navigate and feel part of the community. The buildings and green spaces are well-maintained, making the overall environment quite pleasant.
As for the atmosphere, it's generally relaxed and friendly. With a location close to several state and national parks including Zion National Park, you’ll notice a pretty outdoorsy, active vibe among students. There are often students heading out for hikes and outdoor adventures on the weekends. When not in class, you can often find students studying or hanging out in the Encampment Mall area of campus or grabbing a bite to eat at one of the on-campus dining hubs.
Regarding dorms, most of the accommodations are suite-style, which means you would share a bathroom with just a few other students. Depending on your housing option, you might have a shared or private bedroom. Residences are equipped with modern facilities and many have recently been renovated.
The facilities are pretty comprehensive. They have a health & wellness center with an outdoor pool, a spacious library, and various academic buildings featuring up-to-date technologies. The University is also building a new Human Performance Center which will house classrooms, a climbing wall, and an indoor track.
That said, it's always a good idea to set up a campus visit if you can. That way, you can see everything firsthand. If a physical visit isn't feasible, virtual campus tours are another good option to explore the campus environment.
