UC Santa Cruz acceptance rate?

Hey all! Looking at applying to UC Santa Cruz. Does anybody know what their acceptance rate is? And what type of student typically get admitted?

The University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) acceptance rate tends to fluctuate, but for the 2024-2025 application cycle, it hovers around 51%. However, keep in mind that just because the acceptance rate is relatively high does not mean the school is not competitive. Admission standards at UCSC have been rising as more students apply.

As far as student profile, UC Santa Cruz, like many colleges, doesn't look for a specific "type" of student. Well-rounded students with strong academic records, meaningful extracurricular involvement, and compelling personal narratives tend to have an edge. Here’s a quick snapshot of UCSC admitted students' academic profile:

1. GPA: UCSC admits have an average unweighted GPA of around 3.5 - 3.9 , demonstrating consistent high academic achievement throughout high school.

2. Course Rigor: Successful applicants have typically pursued rigorous course loads that push their intellectual boundaries, including Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes if offered at their school.

Remember, the UC system has gone test-blind, so SAT and ACT scores are not considered in the review process. Other important factors in a UCSC application are thoughtful responses to the Personal Insight Questions, where you have the opportunity to showcase your experiences, growth, and commitment in four short essays.

A side note: UC Santa Cruz highly values contributions to society, so any community service, leadership, and initiative you've shown in positively impacting your community can be a big plus in your application.

Be thorough and genuine in your application and you'll have a solid chance. Good luck!
