Where do I add extra info that’s not covered in the main parts of the Common App?

Hi! So I have some stuff that I want colleges to know about me that doesn't fit anywhere else in the Common App. Is there a section for additional information, and if so, how can I find it? Also, any advice on what type of information is important enough to include there?

Hello there! Yes, the Common App does have a space for additional information—it's in the 'Writing' section at the end of the application, just before the 'Discipline History' section. When you get there, you'll see a prompt asking if there's anything else you want to share with the colleges. It's a text box where you can type in any information that didn't fit elsewhere in your application.

As for what to include, think about significant life circumstances that impacted your education, like family responsibilities or health issues. Maybe you have an unusual hobby or job that has been influential but doesn't fit neatly into the extracurricular or employment sections. Use this space judiciously to provide context or highlight accomplishments that you haven't had the chance to explain.

Remember, though, that this section isn't the place to repeat things that are already clear elsewhere in your application or simply to fill it because it's there. Think of it as your chance to tell admissions officers a story that rounds out their picture of you as an applicant. Best of luck with your application!
