Information about Ohio University's College of Fine Arts?

Has anyone pursued or is currently enrolled in the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University? I'm really interested in their programs but I can't find a lot of student perspectives. Can anyone give an insight into the art and design curriculum, faculty and overall student experience?

Sure, I can provide some general information on Ohio University's College of Fine Arts. This college offers programs in several art-related fields such as Art + Design, Dance, Film, Music, Theater, and Interdisciplinary Arts. For instance, the School of Art + Design offers diverse concentrations like ceramics, graphic design, painting + drawing, printmaking, and sculpture + expanded practice.

The faculty at the College of Fine Arts is comprised of accomplished professionals who are passionate about their fields. They are often lauded for their personal approach to mentoring and advising. Many faculty members are active artists, musicians, researchers, and performers who contribute significantly to their fields.

In terms of curriculum, you'll find a combination of theoretical education and practical exposure. For example, in the graphic design program, you take classes in media studies, typography, and design theory, but you also get to work on practical projects and even engage in field experiences. The student experience varies between different fields of study, but many students highlight the close-knit community and the opportunities for collaborative work and exhibitions. There are also several student-run organizations and clubs to get involved in depending on your specific interests.

One of the key aspects of attending a college of fine arts is the creative environment. Ohio University's College of Fine Arts certainly promotes this through the many performances, exhibitions, and shows that are hosted throughout the year.As far as facilities go, the College of Fine Arts is housed in several buildings on campus, including the Seigfred Hall for the School of Art + Design, the Glidden Hall for the School of Music, and the Kantner and Elizabeth Evans Baker Theater for the School of Theater.

One thing I would recommend is to reach out to the university for more specific information and potentially request to get connected with a current student, as this will give you more personalized insight into the programs you're interested in.
