Applying to Georgia Tech Early Action

Hey there! What's the whole early action process like for Georgia Tech? Like, what are the benefits in terms of acceptance rates, when do the decisions get released, and any priority for housing or class registration?

The Early Action (EA) process for Georgia Tech provides multiple advantages. One thing to note, however, is that Georgia Tech has two Early Action round: EA1 and EA2.

The biggest benefit to applying EA, as with most schools, is the potential boost in acceptance odds. Schools often accept a higher percentage of their early applicants compared to regular decision because early applicants are generally a self-selected group of high-achieving students. However, getting a definitive number or percentage can be a bit tricky, as Georgia Tech does not publish specific acceptance rates for EA.

The decision release dates will vary each year, but generally for EA1, decisions are released in mid-December and for EA2, decisions are released in mid-March. Check Georgia Tech's Admissions page for specific decision release dates.

In terms of housing, there is no advantage to applying EA. The housing application opens in January and your application date has no impact on your housing assignment.

As for class registration, you will have the opportunity to register for your first semester's courses during FASET, their new student orientation program. The schedule for FASET will be determined in the spring and early summer, and you will choose your orientation session at that time. Applying EA doesn't give you a leg up on class registration.

Remember, applying early is a great opportunity but it also means you will need to have your application materials ready earlier in the year. If you feel you need more time for your application to show your senior year grades or other accomplishments, it might be better for you to apply Regular Decision. It's all about timing your application to put your best foot forward. Good luck!
