The Arts in the Military?

One thing I love about high school is choir, and I'm even thinking about finding a way to incorporate that into my future. Anybody have info on which branches of the U.S. military have choirs?

Sure, nearly all branches of the U.S. military have their own choral ensembles, and these singers perform at various functions, including official ceremonies, receptions, and public concerts. Here's a quick rundown:

1. U.S. Army: The Army has the "U.S. Army Chorus," comprised of both officers and enlisted soldiers. It's one of the nation's only professional men's choruses, and its members are selected through a rigorous audition process.

2. U.S. Navy: The "Sea Chanters" is the U.S. Navy's official chorus. It was established in1956 and performs at various events around the country, from national commemorations to community celebrations.

3. U.S. Air Force: The U.S. Air Force has multiple singing groups, including the "Singing Sergeants," which is their official chorus. The "U.S. Air Force Band" also includes other vocal ensembles that perform a wide array of musical genres.

4. U.S. Marine Corps: The "U.S. Marine Corps Band" doesn't specifically have a dedicated choir, but it does incorporate vocal performances into its repertoire, and there might be opportunities for singing there.

5. U.S. Coast Guard: Similarly, the "U.S. Coast Guard Band" incorporates vocalists into their performances, and while they don't have a dedicated chorus, they do occasionally feature choral music.

Lastly, it's worth noting that the "West Point Glee Club" performs at the United States Military Academy and is comprised of cadets. The U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy also have their respective glee clubs.

So, if you're interested in joining the military and continue your love for singing, you do have multiple options. It's important, though, to keep in mind that these positions are competitive and often require an audition, in addition to meeting the general enlistment or officer requirements for the branch.
