Do community colleges typically ask for SAT scores?

Hey guys, I’m starting to look at my post-high school options and was wondering about the standardized testing requirements for community colleges. Does anyone know if community colleges generally require SAT scores for admission? I’m trying to figure out if I should be prepping for the SAT or if I can focus on other parts of my application.

Hey there! That's a great question to consider as you plan your next steps after high school. Most community colleges have an open admissions policy, meaning they typically do not require SAT scores for admission.

They aim to be accessible to all students, regardless of standardized test scores. Nonetheless, it can be a good idea to take the SAT if you think you might want to transfer to a four-year college later on, as those scores could be part of that application process.

Just remember that for your community college application, you can focus on having a solid GPA and showcasing any extracurricular activities or work experience you have. If you need help with the specifics, you can usually find admissions requirements on the community college's website, or you can reach out to their admissions office directly.

Wishing you the best of luck as you move forward with your education!
