What's life like at Ave Maria University?

Hello everyone, I've been considering Ave Maria University for my college education, but I'm having a hard time finding reviews or student experiences. Does anyone have any insights to share? Academics, campus culture, social life, etc. would all be useful. Thanks in advance!

Ave Maria University is a small, private Catholic university situated in a rural area of Florida. The university features a close-knit community often praised by attending students for its warm and inclusive environment. It is important, however, to remember that the size and locale of the school could also mean fewer amenities or nearby city attractions compared to larger universities or those situated in urban locales.

With regards to academics, Ave Maria is well-regarded for its programs in Theology, Liberal Arts and Humanities, and Business. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, you can expect smaller class sizes which allows for more personalized attention from professors. Given that it's a Catholic university, there's a faith-based lens incorporated into the curriculum, so that's something to keep in mind if you're considering attending the university.

The campus culture at Ave Maria is very much permeated by its Catholic identity. There's a chapel on campus with Mass offered daily. Spiritual events, such as retreats, missions, and community service, also form a significant part of the Ave Maria experience.

As for the social life, there are more than 40 student clubs and organizations to get involved with, ranging from academic and career clubs to extracurricular and service organizations. Since Ave Maria is on the smaller side, these clubs may also offer opportunities to hold leadership positions.

In terms of athletics, Ave Maria is part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), with teams in sports like football, basketball, and soccer. If you're a sports enthusiast, there'll be opportunities to either join teams or cheer them on at games.

Overall, while everyone's college experience is unique and subjective, Ave Maria University tends to get good reviews from students who appreciate the blend of rigorous academics, strong community ties, and a faith-based lifestyle.
