Academics and Life at B1G Schools?

Hi all, I've been looking into Big Ten (B1G) schools for their strong athletic culture. But I'm also interested in academics, campus culture, social life, etc. at these places. Is anyone studying at a B1G who could let me in on the realities of going there?
