Insight into Pennoni Honors College Program

I've got Drexel's Pennoni Honors College Program on my list, but I'm wondering what the experience is like. Is the program rigorous? Does it offer any special opportunities or experiences?

The Pennoni Honors College Program at Drexel University indeed offers something unique. For starters, one of the hallmarks of the program is its emphasis on interdisciplinary exploration. Participating students have abundant opportunities to connect to a broad range of subjects beyond their main field of study.

As part of the program's rigor, the courses offered are taught by some of Drexel's top faculty and are designed to challenge students intellectually. They typically involve more discourse, deep-dive projects, and they often delve into subjects that are at the intersection of various disciplines.

Adding on to that, the Pennoni Honors College provides numerous exclusive experiences. For example, the students are eligible for enriched research opportunities. They can participate in the STAR (Students Tackling Advanced Research) Scholars Program in their first year, allowing them to work directly with faculty on research projects. You can learn more about the STAR program here: https://drexel.edu/pennoni/urep/undergraduate-research/STAR-scholars/. This can be a remarkable experience if you're interested in pursuing advanced studies or specific fields requiring solid research skills.

The program also houses the Drexel Publishing Group (https://drexelpublishing.com/), producing multiple student-run publications, which can provide you with invaluable experience if you're interested in journalism, publishing, or writing in general.

Additionally, the program hosts the Fellows Program - a co-curricular experience allowing students to engage with the broader community outside university walls. These might include outings to museums, theaters, historical sites, nature reserves, and more.

Overall, the Pennoni Honors Program does offer an academically enriched experience with lots of opportunities for personal growth and broadening one's intellectual horizons. But as always, the value of such a program is highly dependent on the individual student's interests and career goals. I suggest reaching out to current students or alumni of the program to get a first-hand account of their experiences.
