Experience visiting the University of Chicago?

Has anyone here visited the University of Chicago before? What was it like? I'm trying to arrange a visit soon, so any tips on what to see or do would be highly appreciated!

I've heard from many prospective students who have had the chance to visit the University of Chicago campus, and generally, the feedback is immensely positive! One of the notable features of the university is the architecture, which is done in a sort of Gothic style that some students find enchanting. You should definitely take some time to admire the buildings and soak in the environment.

As you walk around the campus, you may want to visit the Regenstein Library, which is a massive, sprawling complex that many UChicago students consider a crucial part of their academic life. The Joe and Rika Mansueto Library right next to it is known for its striking, modern, glass domed architecture, which is quite a contrast to the gothic-style buildings prevalent on the campus. The Quadrangles, usually called the Quad, is a series of interconnected courtyards and open areas that is a great place to get a sense of the campus community. You might see students congregating, throwing a Frisbee, or studying under a tree. The Oriental Institute, located on campus, is a must-visit. It's a world-class museum dedicated to the ancient Near East which houses a fabulous collection of artifacts, some which date back to 8000 BC.

Lastly, you might want to sit in on a class if possible. UChicago is known for its rigorous academic environment, and attending a class can give you an idea of what to expect if you choose to attend. Please note, however, that the university's current policies might limit your options due to ongoing health concerns and social distancing measures in place. It's always a good idea to contact the school’s admissions office to learn what activities are currently available for prospective students visiting the campus. Enjoy your visit!
