Are There Colleges with Military Majors?

Greetings everyone, I'm a high school rising junior with a keen interest in learning more about the military and considering it as a future career path. I wonder if there are colleges that specifically offer military majors? This could help me merge my goals for further education and a military career. Any advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Sure, many universities indeed offer programs focused on preparing students for a military career. These programs often fall under categories like "Military Science," "Military History," "Defense and Strategic Studies," or "National Security Studies". Just as an example, Norwich University offers a number of such programs, such as "Studies in War and Peace," and "Defense and Security Studies." They also offer an online Masters in Diplomacy, with a focus on International Conflict Management, for those interested in a graduate-level focus on military matters. Another path you could consider is attending a service academy like the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, or U.S. Air Force Academy. At these academies, you'll get a full college education while also preparing for service as a military officer. These programs are extremely competitive and come with a commitment to serve in the military after graduation.

There's also the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program offered at many colleges across the country. This is a college program that prepares young adults to become officers in the U.S. Military. You would be a regular college student with the addition of military and physical training.

Do keep in mind, with any of these options, it's critical to seek out advice from a trusted mentor or guidance counselor, especially given the lifetime commitment that military service entails.
