Transferring Credits to TAMU

I'm considering TAMU for my next step, but I've also done some college-level coursework during high school. Does anyone know how receptive TAMU is to transfer credits, especially for advanced placement or dual enrollment credits?

Texas A&M University (TAMU) typically accepts transfer credits from both Advanced Placement (AP) tests and dual enrollment courses. However, it's important to understand the limits and requirements for these credits.

For AP scores, you generally need a score of 3 or higher for the credits to be accepted. The specific credits you receive can depend on the test and the score. For example, for the AP English Language and Composition test, a score of 3 will give you 3 hours in English elective credit, while a score of 4 or 5 will give you 3 hours in both ENGL103 and ENGL 241.

For dual enrollment courses, it's vital that the coursework is from an accredited institution. As long as that's the case, transfer of credit is normally quite seamless. Credits transfer on a course-by-course basis, and they are evaluated for equivalency to TAMU coursework. It's highly recommended to have syllabi from your dual enrollment courses available, as that can help make the credit evaluation process smoother.

All this being said, your personal situation might vary, and it's always prudent to check directly with the Degree Audit department in Administrative Services to address your specific case.
