Military College Credits

Okay, so I'm trying to get a head start on my college credits whilst in the military - anyone have tips on achieving the 15 credits milestone?

Certainly, there are several routes you can take to earn college credits while serving in the military.

1. Online Classes: Many accredited universities and community colleges offer fully online degree programs. You could take classes this way, around your schedule and wherever you're stationed. This would be the most direct way of earning credits exactly where you want them.

2. College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), DSST, and AP Exams: All of these programs offer exams in various subjects that, if you score well, can earn you college credits.

3. Military Training: Many of your military training courses and experiences could actually be worth college credit. The American Council on Education (ACE) collaborates with the Department of Defense (DoD) to review military training and experiences and recommend equivalent college credits. You'll want to obtain your Joint Services Transcript (JST), which will list the ACE recommendations for your military experiences.

4. Tuition Assistance (TA) Program: Check if you're eligible for the military's TA program, which can provide financial aid for college courses during off-duty hours.

5. Community College of the Air Force (CCAF): If you're in the Air Force, their community college offers degree programs in a wide range of fields. The courses for these programs can be completed while you serve.
