To Self-Report or Not: SAT Scores on Common App

Hey folks, quick question - should you self report SAT scores on Common App or is it better to have them sent officially from College Board? What did you guys do, and did you encounter any issues with your choice?

Hey there! As a parent who recently went through this process with my child, I can share what we learned. It's generally fine to self-report your SAT scores on the Common App for most colleges; they don't require the official report from the College Board until after you're admitted. My child self-reported their scores, and it was a smooth process — no issues at all. Just make sure you're accurate with the numbers because if you decide to attend that school, you'll need to send the official scores, and they must match up. Also, keep an eye out for each college's policy on their admissions page, as there might be exceptions. Self-reporting can be cost-effective and quicker, especially when applying to multiple schools. Hope this helps!
