Online Colleges for Military Personnel

I'm a junior planning ahead and thinking about possible stints in the military. After finishing my service, I want to go get a degree and heard online colleges offer great flexibility. Can anyone suggest some decent (preferably top-ranked) online colleges for military personnel, and how to start planning for this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Certainly, many universities offer online programs that are highly accommodating for veterans and current military personnel. Penn State World Campus, the University of Florida's UF Online, and Arizona State University's ASU Online are all known for their broad variety of online programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level. These institutions also typically offer tuition discount programs for military members and veterans.

Start by determining which field you want to study and then research online programs in those fields. For instance, if you're interested in business, you might consider UF's Online Bachelor in Business Administration.

Secondly, understand the GI Bill and other education benefits available to military personnel. The Post-9/11 GI Bill can help cover the costs of tuition and fees for online degree programs. Also, explore other scholarships and financial aid opportunities for veterans and military personnel.

Finally, as you're looking at different programs, consider schools offering strong student support services, like academic advising and career services specifically for military students. Many military-friendly schools offer these resources to help you transition smoothly from military life to academic life and later to civilian career paths. It's commendable that you're thinking about your education in tandem with a possible military service stint. The combination of real-world experience in the military with an advanced education can open up a lot of career possibilities. Good luck!
