Strategies to Pay for College from Military.com

I know military.com has some articles about how to pay for college. Has anyone tried their strategies or found them useful? I'm a bit strapped for cash and the idea of minimizing college debt is very appealing.

It's certainly understandable that you're looking for ways to minimize college debt! I'll highlight a few strategies that Military.com proposes and are worth exploring.

1. You can consider enlisting in the military, which allows you to take advantage of the Post9/11 GI Bill. This program can cover the full cost of tuition at public schools and a significant portion at private schools.

2. Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) scholarships also provide a viable option. These scholarships can fully cover your tuition or selected fees and even provide a small stipend. However, they do come with a service commitment.

3. Conclusively, loans are not entirely a bad idea if you strategize properly. Military.com suggests federal loans instead of private ones due to low interests and more flexible payment plans.

Just remember that each of these options comes with its own conditions and commitments. It's important to fully understand what you're getting into before you make a decision. For instance, the GI Bill and ROTC scholarships require a service commitment, which means you would be expected to serve in the military for a specified period of time.

All of these strategies have eased the financial burden of college for many individuals, but it does involve serious decision making. We recommend consulting with your guidance counselor or a trusted mentor about each option.
