MIT Early Action Deadline Info?

Hi guys! I've been working on my MIT application and I want to apply for Early Action. When is the deadline for this? Should I be aware of any special requirements I need to fulfill for EA?

The Early Action deadline for MIT is typically November 1st. You will want to submit all the components of your application—like your essays, letters of recommendation, and transcript—by this date. If you're applying for financial aid, the CSS Profile and FAFSA also have early November deadlines, so don't forget about those.

As for special requirements, MIT uses its own application, the MIT Application, so you will need to fill that out rather than the Common App or Coalition App. For letters of recommendation, MIT asks for two letters from two teachers in different academic subjects. If you're also thinking of applying to schools that need counselor letters or additional teacher/rec letters, make sure to ask for and prepare those separately.

Something to note is that when you apply Early Action to MIT, it is non-binding, meaning if you are accepted, you do not have to commit to attending MIT. However, it is restricted, meaning you cannot apply early (either Early Action or Early Decision) to any private colleges or universities in the U.S. You can still apply early to other public or international schools, or to any school through a non-restrictive plan.

As always, check the MIT Admissions website for the most definitive and up-to-date information. Happy applying!
